Weseayou https://weseayou.gr/en/home/ is a tool designed to fill a gap. It aims to activate citizens, calling on them to participate in the safeguarding of our seas—this natural wealth whose protection is the responsibility of us all. At last, a site that gives an objective picture!
The observatory was created by WWF Greece, the Greek office of Greenpeace, and Vouliwatch, with the support of environmental organizations including the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature, the Hellenic Ornithological Society, the Thalassa Foundation/AENAOS THALASSA, Blue Marine Foundation, Cyclades Preservation Fund (CPF), iSea, and MEDASSET.
Through “weseayou,” the participating entities and organizations aim, on one hand, to enhance public knowledge around this critical issue and, on the other, to highlight the urgent need for the effective protection of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in our country. According to the international and European “30×30 Target,” these areas should cover at least 30% of Greek seas by 2030.
The Observatory’s website also presents the first assessment of Greece’s progress so far regarding the protection of the marine protected areas WeSeaYou Report https://weseayou.gr/wp content/uploads/2025/04/WeSeaYou_Report_Apr2025_EN.pdf – April 2025.
The Observatory weseayou was developed with respect to the project “Advancing the 30X30 target for an ecologically-representative, coherent and well-managed network of Marine Protected Areas in Greece” which is being implemented in Greece by WWF Greece and Greenpeace, funded by Oceans 5.
