From March 8, International Women’s Day, to June 8, World Oceans Day, our commitment has only grown stronger”. Women Actions for the Ocean (WAO), held at the Centre Universitaire Méditerranéen as part of #UNOC3

Zefi Dimadama, Lecturer, Panteion University Athens, f. Secretary General for Equality of Greece, Member of the Global Women Network “Leading Women for Oceans” joined the UNOC WAO event in Nice on June 8th. The event enriched discussions and shaped new approaches for promoting concrete actions for the ocean. Women Actions for the Ocean, as a movement dedicated to the crucial role of women in ocean conservation and leadership, brought together committed voices whose actions in ocean science, conservation, and policy are helping to shape a more sustainable future for our ocean. Zefi’s panel had the title: “Women Bridging Ocean Science and Policy for Inclusive Governance” and highlighted how can women shape fair, science-based ocean governance. This session explored the critical role of women in connecting research, decision-making, and leadership to drive lasting change in ocean policies.
